Hello, I'm Sofia
Project manager. Parent. Expat residing in Barcelona, Spain.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't part of our long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much bigger.
The opening months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores felt more burdensome than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning by doing. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt enduring.
Why I Built Calm Meadow Trace
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Practical insights from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated when genuine changes occur
This site isn't:
- An official tourism bureau resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- A generic travel journal
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Spain continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Barcelona or anywhere in Spain, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Cheers,
Sofia
